Responsible 18-month old
Today, Dawna found a water bottle on "her" desk (it's Jon's, but when he's not home, I let Dawna take it over). The bottle had just a little water in the bottom. Naturally, once she discovered it, it took her all of 5 seconds to dump it out in a nice puddle and start playing in the water. I was a little annoyed and rolled my eyes at her. I didn't want to get up and clean it up since I had just laid down to rest my poor aching pregnant self :). So, instead of taking care of the puddle, I just stared at her playing in the water. After about a minute, Dawna got off her chair and scampered out of the room... figures... make a mess and then make a run for it.
I was just about to get up and wipe it up when Dawna came trotting back into the room... with a dish towel from the kitchen. I don't know how she got her hands on it, honestly... Without so much as a whimper or complaint, she climbed back up onto the chair and wiped up the puddle! Then, she got down, ran out with the towel, and came back without it (not sure where it might have ended up, but I hope it got to wherever it originated). Then, she asked for crayons and stickers to play with. It was just so sweet and cute to see an 18 month old girl be responsible for a mess and clean it up! It gives me hope that I'm doing something right as a mom :)

Danielle!!! I can't believe I found your blog! I also can't believe you're expecting your second baby!!! I told Andrew that and his response was, "isn't she still in young womens???" :) Talk about making me feel old--my senior TA is now a mommy! Yikes! So my friends the mladineo's (from my college ward in boston) know your brother ben (I linked to theirs and then to yours). Did that make sense??? We have a blog too: eastcoastbosleys.blogspot.com and we are expecting baby #4! Holy Cow! So excited to keep up with you! Tell your mom hi for me!!!
How cute is that! You are definitely doing a lot of things right as a mommy. I will be coming to you for advice in a few years!
Maren!! I'm glad you found me! YEah, I'm getting to feel old, especially in these last few weeks of being pregnant... not so easy to move around any more... When's your due date? That's so exciting!
how funny!! blogs are so great. i'm glad you found each other! :) i loved reading the dawna story!
That's awesome. How did Dawna do with Nursery today?
She was great in nursery... of course, that's probably because she's already been going since we moved in. Adele is the only other nursery-aged kid in the ward, so they let Dawna in even though she was under aged. She was ready though. She's usually happier when we drop her off than when we pick her up.
