Fabulous weekend

To celebrate Jon's graduation, we spent a whole weekend--kid free!--snowboarding in Tahoe. Thursday was a pretty rough day for me since it was basically my first time boarding. I almost didn't even want to go back on Friday because of all the bumps and bruises I suffered... But, Jon got me to go the second day and I'm glad I did because it was SOOOO much better! And then by Saturday, it was actually, like, FUN!

So, my advice to up and coming snowboarders in the family: give yourself at least three days to get the hang of it. it's pretty tricky business cutting back and forth, switching edges without catching and throwing yourself face first or rear-end first into the snow... but you feel so accomplished once you do!

So this is me, actually Snowboarding!
And this is Jon doing his thing... looking so much more suave and confident! (He's pretty small in the picture, but it IS him)
And this is the cabin we rented for the weekend (some Stanford, et al friends met us up there Friday night, thus warranting the four-bedroom cabin):
And this is cousin Chelsea, Aunt Charlene, and me. Lee and Charlene were awesome enough to get us a good deal on lift tickets AND invite us over on Friday night for a barbecue!

And here we are in all our glory going up Patsy's lift at Heavenly Resort... with NO kids! It was like our third--or fourth?--honeymoon! (We've lost count :) )

So fun! I am so glad that you guys got to do something special to celebrate! You look good snowboarding Danielle! I haven't been snowboarding in ages.... I wonder if I will have to relearn or if it will be like riding a bike.

That's great! I have never tried snowboarding (and don't think I ever will... mountains really scare me!!). You are brave and I'm glad you had such a great time!
